Founding Data Scientist (m/w/d)

Job Description

We're looking for a Founding Data Scientist to build the data foundation and intelligent data-intensive platform features. You'll work closely with the founding and engineering team to help M&A Advisors, Private Equity & Search Funds identify and assess companies and find relevant sellers and buyers. You'll own the process end-to-end, from sourcing and preparing data to integrating your models and analyses into our product.

What you will do

Strong experience (2–3+ years) in Data Science or applied Machine Learning with Python and SQL, ideally working with company or financial data
Experience combining, cleaning and enriching large, diverse datasets and building reliable data pipelines
Hands-on experience with NLP, embeddings and LLMs to extract, structure and analyze unstructured information
Strong understanding of statistics and model evaluation, with the ability to translate business questions into analyses and production-ready solutions
An entrepreneurial & problem-solving, high-agency mentality
Strong organizational & prioritization skills
Excellent communication skills in English and preferrably German

Source company, investor, people and market data with reliably built pipelines to keep it accurate and up to date
Enrich datasets using external sources and LLMs to extract and structure information from websites, registries and documents
Develop entity resolution and matching models to connect companies, investors and people across sources and identify relevant targets
Design relational data models that capture ownership structures, financial data and relationships between companies, investors and people
Build forecasting models to analyze trends and predict relevant company, investor eand market developments
Establish benchmarks and quality checks to evaluate data coverage, enrichment accuracy and model performance
Work closely with the engineering and founding teams to integrate data into our platform and shape our development priorities
